A dream come true for Hamida Issahaku

Hamida Issahaku, Apprentice auto-electrician, Sayoo

Hamida Issahaku is 31 and lives in Sayoo, in the West Mamprusi Municipality. She is married with five children, and left school after junior high.

Since childhood, Hamida dreamed of becoming an auto-electrician. Poverty denied her that chance.

With support from the Vibrant Village Foundation, Rights Action Ghana enrolled Hamida as an apprentice at an auto-electrical shop of her own choosing in Walewale, and bought her a bicycle so she can travel from her community to the shop.

The apprenticeship has revived her dream. Hamida is on her way to becoming the first auto-electrician in her community, with the chance to own her own business once she graduates.

The YES Project fulfilled my dream and I am working very hard to achieve it.
