About us

A local, women-led non-profit working with communities in northern Ghana since 2021.

Our story

Rights Action Ghana was founded in December 2021 by Rahinatu Fuseini, who had seen how much a committed team can achieve in northern Ghana with few resources.

Since 2022 we have worked with youth groups, women, children and community leaders in the West Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region. We work with women, children, youth, persons with disabilities and underserved communities to create opportunities, amplify voices and drive lasting change.

We work with communities, not for communities: listening to their priorities, strengthening local leadership and turning ideas into practical solutions. Our goal is a just, inclusive and resilient society where everyone can thrive.

Our vision

A just and equitable society where all people, especially the most marginalised (women, children, youth and persons with disabilities), are free from violence, have equal access to opportunities and resources, and live with dignity.

Our mission

To promote the rights and well-being of marginalised people (women, children, youth, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups) through strategic partnerships, inclusive empowerment and community-driven initiatives that challenge discriminatory norms and support sustainable development and resilient, healthy communities.

What we stand for

Seven values guide how we work with communities, partners and each other.

Equality, justice and human rights

An equal and just society where people live in peace and dignity and have access to the resources and opportunities to develop their potential.

Participation

Women, children and young people take an active part in our programmes, so communities own the work and sustain it after projects end.

Sustainability

We promote solutions that endure beyond the life of a project.

Partnership

We work respectfully with local government, communities, civil society, the private sector and donors to achieve common objectives.

Teamwork

Mutual respect and accountability, dialogue and collaboration, and recognising what each person contributes.

Integrity

Mutual trust, honesty, transparency and accountability in everything we do.

Inclusion

Everyone, regardless of gender, age, ability, ethnicity, race or background, has an equal voice, opportunity and place to participate and thrive.
